Our History
The inspiration for the company behind the innovative HIPPOBAG™ and collection and disposal service was borne out of a trip to Barcelona where a similar type of system was in operation throughout the city. The founding members of HIPPO, instantly recognised the potential for further developing this concept as a solution for waste disposal in the UK.
Following a period of detailed planning and testing, HIPPOWASTE™ was formally launched in Hampshire during September 2002, offering a branded skip bag, waste collection and disposal service for business, industry, local authority and domestic use.
Eight years on, HIPPOWASTE is a thriving operation with over 80 staff and a strong transport network. The company already boasts strong credentials including several business award wins, an advisory position to The Environment Agency and partnerships with councils across the UK. HIPPOWASTE is poised for exponential growth following the roll out of its operation nationwide and is pleased to report a significant growth in turnover so far in 2011.
