We're giving more grants than ever to help local projects and community initiatives. Here are some of the highlights of the project from 2016 so far. To learn more about the scheme, visit the Grants Up for Grabs page.

Princes Trust

A team working on a Prince's Trust community project aimed to create a nice garden space that could be used to grow their own fruit and veg.

"Prince’s Trust Team 114 partook in a community project that enabled the young students to do something for a local community. The students chose to do their project at Spring House in Hampstead, Birmingham a charity housing association that provides accommodation and support for vulnerable adults at risk of being made homeless."

Warton pre-school nursery

HIPPO were on hand to help Warton Preschool Nursery get rid of a whopping 30 years of storage cupboard clutter.

The clear out has allowed the nursery to use the space for what it's intended for, enabling them to store extra resources like an easel, art trolley, role play shop, two computer cabinets and some building and
construction resources.

"An easel has been on our staff “wish list” for a few years, so finding one which allows four children to paint at the same time has been brilliant. We have been able to move our powdered paint supplies inside the nursery to have them accessible."

Before and after:

NEW LEAF CIC

New Leaf is a property business that specialises in getting offenders back in to work. They provide mentoring for jobs like garden clearances, home renovations, painting and decorating - a perfect mix to use a HIPPOBAG for! We were able to provide them with a bag to help their projects, removing bricks and heavy soil that would have been costly to remove.

Rotherham sea cadets

This voluntary youth group provide fun educational activities for young people from across the Rotherham area, and their increase in membership left them needing a clear out to make space for a new classroom. They needed somewhere that could accommodate activities for cadets, with the Junior section of the organisation close to maximum capacity.

"A huge Thank you to all those who gave up their time, and Thank you to HIPPO Waste for the HIPPOBAG."
