What is a HIPPOBAG^TM

The HIPPOBAG is a convenient and cost-effective alternative to a skip and makes the job of disposing of your household, trade, garden and DIY waste easier than ever before. There are three bag sizes, the 1 cubic yard MIDIBAG, the 1.5 cubic yard MEGABAG, and the 4.5 cubic yard MIGHTYBAG (known as theHIPPOSKIP^TM in retail stores).

How does it work?

1.Buy your HIPPOBAG

You can buy your HIPPOBAG at any of the major DIY retailers nationwide. For a list of our current stockists please visit hippobag.co.uk.

Alternatively you can buy your HIPPOBAG and collection online in one easy transaction at hippobag.co.uk. Your HIPPOBAG will arrive in 2 workings days*, you may need to sign for the parcel or provide a safe place where it can be left. You will also receive an email with your unique collection reference number; keep this safe as you will need this to arrange your collection later!

2.Fill it up

When ready for the disposal of your waste, position the bag in accordance with our guidelines for positioning and filling the bag, and fill it with any non-hazardous waste. The HIPPOBAG™ is ideal for accommodating a variety of waste streams including general household, trade and DIY waste, building rubble, hardcore, soil and garden waste, old bathroom suites and kitchen units, a fireplace, carpets or other oversized waste items.

If you are looking for plasterboard rubbish removal please contact us to check the latest guidance, if your bag contains plasterboard additional disposal charges may apply. Please be aware that under new legislation we cannot collect plasterboard when it is mixed with other waste. 3.Arrange pickup

If you paid for your collection online as part of your purchase, please give us a call on 0845 850 0 850 to arrange your collection. Don’t forget to have your unique collection reference number ready.

If you bought your bag at one of our stockists you can arrange and pay for your collection online via our secure server, or call 0845 850 0 850 and make your payment over the phone.

4.We collect

HIPPOWASTE will aim to collect your HIPPOBAG within 5 working days of booking** – you don’t need to be in for us to collect. We will take the bag away, recycling an average of over 80% of the contents! The HIPPOBAG provides and easy and environmentally friendly way to handle the disposal of waste.

** this may be extended during peak times (e.g. bank holidays) but we’ll keep you posted.
