esterday we announced the winner of Britain’s Best Allotment as the Hills family from Greater Manchester. Today we wanted to salute the excellent competition they faced from the other shortlisted candidates, as we name or second and third placed allotments.
As with our winner, the judging process was very close, and we feel they deserve special mention, and of course they will be receiving a stash of Lucy Summer Living gardening products.
With a beautifully kept plot in Salford, we were impressed with the effort Mark puts into keeping his allotment just so. For Mark, using the allotment as a respite means he has the freedom to experiment with different planting and can share in the joy that growing brings.
NICK AND JULIE SALMON
This plot in Brentwood, Essex claims third prize. The couple’s dedication to turning around a tired and overgrown plot means that today it is flourishing with life and a wealth of crop varieties. They said that becoming part of the local, thriving and friendly allotment community has been a pleasure. Their plot really was a reflection of the joy they find there.
Our second and third placed allotmenteers will soon be receiving their prizes, full of gardening goodies to help on the allotment, and maybe giving them the chance to go one better in next year’s competition.
We were overwhelmed with the response to the competition and blown away by the quality of the allotments we viewed. With entries like these we can’t wait for the competition next year!
