Birmingham Tips & Recycling Centres: 5 You Should Know
There are five local tips across Birmingham which residents can access. As long as you can present identification confirming you live in the city, such as a driving license, council tax or utility bill letter. To access any of these sites, you must book on the Birmingham HWRC's website before you arrive to dispose of your waste. Before you visit one of these recycling centres, consider these booking rules:
- You cannot book less than two hours before your intended visit
- You cannot book more than three days in advance
- You can book two visits at the same time
1. Sutton Coldfield Recycling Centre
Located within this north Birmingham tip, the Castle Bromwich site includes a reuse shop that accepts donations of household goods, furniture, electrical items, bric-a-brac, bicycles, garden tools and lawnmowers. If the shop is closed, please do not leave donations outside the gate.
There’s also a dedicated area for gas bottles — whether full or empty, they must not be placed in the metals skip. If you’re unsure, speak to a member of staff on site for guidance.

2. Perry Barr Recycling Centre
Located in northwest Birmingham, the Perry Barr tip accepts a wide range of household waste except business or trade waste and materials from landlords, builders, or house clearance services.

- Vans and larger trailers require booking via the van booking system

5. Kings Norton Tip
Before booking a visit to Kings Norton Recycling Centre, please note that large domestic appliances (LDAs), Tetra Pak, books, and fluorescent tubes are not accepted at this site due to ongoing redevelopment. This is expected to be completed by October 2027.
