In Memory of Shane Richardson

We are heartbroken to share the tragic news of the passing of Shane Richardson, aged 29, who rode for Astro JJR HIPPO Suzuki. Shane was involved in a fatal accident during the British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park on Monday 5th May 2025.

Shane was more than just a talented superbike rider—he was a genuine and kind-hearted individual who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Sponsored for a second year by HIPPO he quickly became known as a great enthusiast for the sport, respected by all that saw him race with supporters who were incredibly fond of him.

Gareth Lloyd-Jones, our Managing Director, shared this tribute:

“In a very short time, Shane became a massive part of HIPPO, he was a wonderful man and an amazing partner to his young wife Hannah and their family. Personally, I am devastated for them.”

We would also like to pass on our deepest condolences to the loved ones of Owen Jenner, aged 21, from team Rapid Honda, who sadly also lost his life in the same accident, and we wish Tom Tunstall who sustained significant injuries a speedy recovery.

Our thoughts are with their families, friends, teammates and the wider racing community at this incredibly difficult time.
