Milton Keynes Council Bulky Waste Collections

Milton Keynes City Council also has a chargeable bulky waste collection service if you can’t get your rubbish to a tip.

It is available for household furniture, carpets, white goods, microwaves, TVs, etc. They don’t collect hazardous waste, car batteries, tyres, sheets of glass or commercial waste.

The charge is calculated using a points-based system. Small items have lower points, and large items have higher points.

For many items, a council officer may want to visit and see the items before providing a quote. Otherwise, your cost will be calculated before you book.

To book or enquire, contact the customer services team on 01908 252570 or email customerservices@milton-keynes.gov.uk, or find out more about how to prepare for a collection.

Local Recycling Points in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes has plenty of local recycling points, from clothes recycling to glass recycling banks.

These are great if you only have a small amount to get rid of, and it’s not worth a trip to the tip. And some spots, like clothes banks, offer the chance to donate to charity.

Glass Recycling Banks

Alongside the main recycling points in Milton Keynes and charity shops, residents can also drop mixed glass bottles and jars at glass recycling banks across the city.

To find glass recycling near you, you can search by location on Recycle Now.

If a bank is full, please report it using the number given on the bin and avoid leaving items beside the banks – this is considered fly-tipping, and you could be fined.

Where is my Nearest Clothes Bank?

If you have good-quality clothing, shoes and household textiles like cushion covers and curtains, you can donate them to clothing bank bins near you.

Items should be placed in plastic bags, and pairs of shoes tied together.

For a full list of your nearest clothes banks, and more details on accepted materials, visit the Clothing Banks website, where you can search by your local area.
