Under the Grants up for Grabs scheme HIPPO awarded a free HIPPOSKIP and collection to the R.I.V.A Project, for use towards the good of the community and their charitable work.

The R.I.V.A Project is a new enterprise that has evolved from a long established social provision for young people with disabilities called Riva Club that has been running for over 15 years.

The Project

"We are currently in the process of getting the Old Library fit for use once more.  Once ready, we will be opening to provide work based training for people with disabilities.

The project will incorporate a coffee shop & charity shop in which the clients will learn retail, catering & customer service related skills.  They will also learn basic life skills alongside this to help in their every day lives.  Both the coffee shop & charity shop will be open to the community to enable our clients to ‘practice’ their skills and gain the experience of meeting the general public.

We held a big DIY SOS weekend involving many volunteers clearing, cleaning, decorating & dismantling, this in turn generated a lot of waste.

The HIPPOSKIP was an invaluable tool that weekend, that was soon filled to the brim.

We are a charity and our funds are quite limited so the ‘Grants up for Grabs‘ scheme helped our project immensely.  We would highly recommend other groups using this service, such an easy process."
